Waste Education

How can the Council help Schools/Youth Groups?

South Staffordshire Council’s Waste Awareness and Recycling Education Initiative supports the
National Recycle Now campaign.

The Council provides free recycling collection services for schools where appropriate, supported
by a package of activities. The project is designed to encourage participation in waste reduction,
and recycling increasing environmental awareness and sustainability.

The Council runs educational activities which link into the National Curriculum to highlight the local issues of waste and recycling
and strongly encourages schools to become Eco-schools.

Education Workshops

South Staffordshire Councils Recycling Workshops use waste & recycling as a theme. They include fun activities workshops such as recycled paper making, composting workshops, quizzes on waste and litter, competitions, ‘Get Recycling’ sports activities, visits from ‘Ali-can’ our can recycling mascot and ‘Recycler’ the rapping robot. Each workshop will be provided free of charge to schools within the district, to support the schools recycling initiatives.
